TrueSharp 2 Rotary Blade Sharpener
Colleen TaukeDescription
Rotary blades that cut properly reduce stress and frustration when cutting patchwork. No matter how careful we are with our rotary cutting tools, blades eventually lose that perfect edge. What is a quilter to do? Dull blades tend to lead to accidents and injuries, which none of us want to experience.
The Grace Company has created a rotary blade sharpening system that can be used on all sizes of blades from the small 33 mm all the way up to the 60 mm size. The system comes with a set of accessories that make preparing the sharpener quick and safe. The sharpener is prepared for use, by applying a drop or two of sharpening oil to the diamond cut stone. Next, carefully remove the blade from the handle mechanism by using the provided “tweezers” and place the blade in the sharpener. Aligning the center hole with the center of the sharpener compartment. Lower the lid, but do not lock it. Trigger the sharpening mechanism, referring back to the directions for the approximate length of time needed to improve the cutting edge of the blade. This can take a series of sharpening attempts, depending on the condition of the blade. It may also improve the edge of the sharpening process is done from both sides of the blade.
The True Sharp 2 can assist you with getting a bit more life out of your cutting tools. The sharpening process can improve the cutting edge for a cleaner, less effortless cutting experience. The Grace Company has devised this sharpening system with quilters in mind.

We've spent hours cutting patchwork. Our rotary cutters get a workout. After a while, the blade gets dull. Then what? Do we invest in new blades, or do we get a little bit more life out of that rotary blade?
The TrueSharp 2 made by Grace Company can give you that extended life to your rotary blades. That comes as a sharpener here that can accommodate all three sizes of rotary blades that are most commonly used by quilters. You can see the sharpening stone here and here in the lid, so it sharpens both sides of your rotary blade at the same time by easily taking the blade out of your handle. Now, at home when I take mine apart, I actually lay the pieces out in the order that I remove them, so I remember to put them back together in the same order, there, then we can drop the handle off and give us the blade. Now it comes with a little tweezer kind of tool so that you can easily pick up your blade and take it to the cutter or the sharpener.
Now, it also comes with a small bottle of oil, so you're gonna place one drop on the lower sharpening area and one on the upper, there, and then place the top down onto the blade. We don't wanna lock it shut while we're sharpening, we just wanna have the lid closed all the way, and then for a 15 second cycle we can sharpen our blade, then come in with the tweezers to take it out. We wanna take some of that excess oil off there so we don't get it on our fabrics, and that little cleaning cloth comes with your sharpener. Then we can put our blade back in our handle. Buying blades all the time, as quilters we go through quite a few blades over the history of our quilting, and if you can get a little extra wear out of those rotary blades, always a good thing.
So now easily taking this back to sharp, and you are ready to get back to cutting patchwork. The TrueSharp 2, extending the life of your rotary blade and keeping you cutting perfect patchwork.
