The holiday season is upon us! This exciting time is full of projects and gift making. That’s why National Quilters Circle put together a list of nine projects that will help decorate your tree or fill your family’s stockings.
This season, we wanted to gather other quilters in the amazing online community and share their awesome projects with you. These creators have amazing ideas that every household needs around the holidays. Tutorials by Crazy Mom Quilts, The Crafty Quilter, Threadbare Creations, A Quilting Life, Diary of a Quilter, Glue Sticks, Swoodson Says, CKC Patterns, and Love Laugh Quilt.
1. Christmas Star Block
To start you off on a larger project, Rose of Threadbare Creations designed a block pattern to start the holidays right. It may not be ready by Christmas but working on it throughout the season will get you in a cheery mood! Tutorial here: Christmas Star Block Pattern
2. Patchwork Gift Bag
You can’t allow any piece of holiday fabric to waste when you won’t be using it for another whole year. So, Sherri from A Quilting Life uses the rest of her scraps to make a reusable gift bag. How clever! Tutorial here: Patchwork Gift Bag
3. Christmas Hot Pad
As a thoughtful gift or a much-needed kitchen accessory, this festive hot pad is so cute! Amanda at Crazy Mom Quilts uses holiday colored scraps to complete this project. Tutorial: A Simple Hot Pad Tutorial
4. Christmas Pocket Mug Rug
Chilly nights sitting by the fire with hot cocoa means we need lots and lots of mug rugs. The Crafty Quilter made a great Christmas pattern. Julie even allows a place to keep a cocoa packet! Tutorial here: Christmas Pocket Mug Rug
5. Quilted Ornaments
The best thing about these Quilted Ornaments is that you don’t need to use the sewing machine! They are easy enough for you to do while you watch a Christmas movie marathon. Tiffany from CKC Patterns has made them for multiple holidays and you can too! Tutorial here: Quilted Ornaments
6. Cuffed Christmas Stocking
Where else to put holiday treats than in cute stockings? Brandy created a great pattern for creating your own stockings on her blog, Glue Sticks. It’ll be easy to make a few before Santa comes to fill them up! Tutorial here: Cuffed Christmas Stocking Pattern
7. Handmade Quilted Ornaments
These ornaments won’t be like any another ornament. The tutorial Stephanie created on her blog, Swoodson Says, allows you to be creative with your decorations! These ornaments will be just as unique as your family gathered around the tree. Tutorial here: Handmade Quilted Ornaments
8. Mini Christmas Tree Ornament
During Christmas, you can never have too many ornaments. This mini Christmas tree pattern by Amy at Diary of a Quilter would be perfect on a pine garland above the fireplace. Tutorial here: Mini Christmas Tree Quilt Ornament Tutorial
9. Hexagon Holiday Centerpiece
Finally, bring the whole room together with a festive centerpiece tablecloth. Beth with Love Laugh Quilt makes one that would be perfect with a cookie jar or a poinsettia on top! Tutorial here: Hexagon Holiday Centerpiece
What are your favorite projects to make this season? Maybe you will add to your holiday decorating with one of these fun ideas. However you decorate, we wish you the best of luck with your quilting and happiest of times with your family and friends!
